My journalism experience ranges from covering the stock market in New York City to politics on Capitol Hill. I've worked as a supervising producer on the WGN Morning News in Chicago (the city's most-watched morning program). I was also an on-camera contributor to the WGN-TV website. I'm now an adjunct professor and research assistant at Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism. I do some freelance work as well, completing various writing projects for investment firms and PR companies.

I was raised in the Chicago suburbs, and today I live on the city’s North Side. I have a profound love for Chicago and everything that makes it unique.

Whatever the project, I'm committed to success. From when I took over the 4 a.m. newscast at WGN to when I left, our viewership was up at least 50%.

My story

I received a B.A. in Communication from Boston College (Go Eagles!) with minors in International Studies and Theology. In college I wrote for the student newspaper and interned at two TV stations – the NBC affiliate in Chicago and the ABC affiliate in Boston. I also studied abroad in Italy and kept a food & travel blog.

After college I spent a year earning my M.S.J. at Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism, honing my broadcast and print reporting skills in Chicago and Washington, D.C. Right out of school I worked as an intern reporter at Bloomberg News in New York City, where I covered stocks and options.

I then became a news producer at WGN-TV/CLTV in Chicago and a contributor to the WGN website – with a blog and TV segment about fun things to do in Chicago, as well as a “good news” web segment that I wrote, produced and anchored.

Today I teach journalism at my alma mater, Northwestern's Medill School. I'm also involved in Medill's Local News Initiative, a study focused on the sustainability of local news. In addition, I do freelance writing work for investment firms and PR companies - everything from marketing re-brands, communications plans, and editing newsletters & thought pieces.
